Since its inception in 1998, North County Charter Elementary School has been a model for local and national Charter education. With a faculty of dedicated, state-certified educators and highly qualified support staff, the students receive superior instruction in a positive, nurturing environment. The smaller class size, personalized interaction, and focus on fundamentals allow the students to build a strong foundation of skills, discipline, and knowledge. The school has consistently been recognized as an institution of learning excellence, earning “A+ School” designations for FCAT results as well as meeting national “No Child Left Behind” requirements. In the summer of 2011, the school earned the designation of "High Performing Charter School" from the Florida Department of Education.  The school’s faculty, staff, and Board of Directors strive to continue exceeding expectations in elementary education and opening the doors to academic success.

A Florida charter school is a non-tuition public school of choice open to all students. The "charter" establishing each school is a performance contract detailing the school's mission, program, goals, students served, methods of assessment, and ways to measure success. In return for this increased autonomy, a charter school must raise the level of accountability. The school and its staff are accountable to the school’s Board of Directors, the Florida Department of Education, and the public that funds the school for academic progress and sound fiscal practices.
